Houston Public Media Names Josh Adams General Manager
University of Houston
Following a national search, Houston Public Media today announces that veteran media executive and station manager Joshua B. Adams has been promoted to associate vice president and general manager, effective June 1, 2025. In this role, Adams will oversee the strategic direction and operations of Houston Public Media’s broadcast and digital assets, including the nation’s first educational television station KUHT TV8 (PBS), KUHF News 88.7 (NPR) and their digital subchannels. He will also serve as an ex officio member of the Houston Public Media Foundation Board, which provides financial support to the organization. Read more.

Pam Johnston named CEO of merged Rhode Island pubcaster

Pam Johnston will be the next president and CEO of Rhode Island’s public media organization, the result of a merger between Rhode Island PBS and The Public’s Radio.
“The possibilities before us for public media in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts are incredibly exciting, and Pam Johnston has the passion, expertise, and creativity to build a world class organization,“ said Elizabeth Delude-Dix, co-chair of the organization’s board and former chair of the board of directors of The Public’s Radio, in the release. “Pam is a visionary leader who has a deep understanding of audience engagement, practical expertise in digital transformation, and innovative ideas for the future.” Read more.

Jody Hamblett named WUOT GM

Jody Hamblett, a nonprofit executive with public radio leadership experience, will take over as GM of WUOT in Knoxville, Tenn., on Aug. 14.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jody Hamblett to WUOT,” said Joseph Mazer, dean of the university’s College of Communication and Information, in a press release. “With her expertise and accomplishments, Jody is well-equipped to drive WUOT’s success and further our university’s land-grant mission by delivering exceptional public radio programming to our communities.” Read more.

WOSU Public Media Announces Anthony Padgett as New General Manager

The Ohio State University has named Anthony Padgett as the new Thomas Rieland Endowed General Manager of WOSU Public Media. Padgett brings more than 30 years of industry experience, most recently serving as president and CEO of South Carolina ETV (SCETV) in Columbia. His first day leading WOSU will be Monday, March 6. Shawn Turner named WKAR Public Media general manager

Shawn Turner has been named general manager of WKAR Public Media at Michigan State University, effective December 1, 2022. In addition to his role as general manager, Turner is a professor of practice in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at MSU and a national security communication analyst for CNN. New KPBS General Manager Appointed

Deanna Mackey, an executive leader and journalist with more than 30 years of experience, has been appointed to serve as general manager for KPBS.
Overseeing a unit of about 180 staff, Mackey will hold leadership responsibility for operating and capital budgets of more than $37 million. In addition to the core responsibility of providing strategic and operational direction for KPBS and its news and public engagement missions, other primary areas of responsibility include membership support, major and planned giving, grants and corporate sponsorships.
