Immersive storytelling is showing up more often in public media, from augmented reality installations that put people inside a story to virtual reality tours built for classrooms. This session, co-presented by Public Media Innovators and the Content PLC executive committee, takes a close look at immersive experience design through working examples from across public media.

For this webinar, we will be joined by Tamara Shogaolu, founder and creative director of Ado Ato Pictures, who created the augmented reality installation for Un(re)solved, a multiplatform Frontline project examining unsolved civil rights-era murders. Her installation lets visitors walk through a forest of trees, each one connected to the story of a victim.

We'll also hear from two public media stations building immersive work in-house. Charles Dymock, Digital Multimedia Producer at South Carolina ETV, will share about Expedition VR and Let’s Go!, a pair of virtual reality series built for classrooms and community spaces. And Sadah Espii Proctor, Director of Immersive Media at South Florida PBS, will talk about their work bringing full-scale immersive experiences to public media audiences in exhibits like Titanic: An Immersive Voyage and Colosseum: The Legendary Arena.

You'll leave with real case studies in immersive storytelling, an understanding of the value of these experiences, and some tips on how to explore this work.
