The Peace Studio Seeks Public Media Applicants for Prestigious Fellowship

May 11, 2023

A public media journalist will be guaranteed placement in The Peace Studio’s Fellowship thanks to a partnership with NETA. The Fellowship awards $10,000 to mid-career journalists and artists to create a storytelling project focused on building bridges in local communities.

The public media Fellowship includes the Peace Studio curriculum, an all-expenses paid kick-off retreat at the 2023 NETA Conference, and the financial grant. The application launched on May 3, 2023, and is open through June 9, 2023. Fellows will be selected by mid-July.

Eric Hyyppa, NETA president, believes this partnership with The Peace Studio will add value to PBS and NPR stations across the country.

“Our member stations are full of talented storytellers working directly with their local communities," says Hyyppa. "The NETA team is thrilled to help elevate the Peace Studio Fellowship opportunity within the public media system.”

Mariano Avila, former journalist and co-executive director of The Peace Studio, is excited to be partnering with public media as the organization ushers a new class of fellows.

“We challenge our Fellows to dream bigger and to consider the impact and reach of their work,” says Avila. “Our partnership with NETA this year significantly expands that reach, and I can’t wait to see how their journalists respond to our curriculum and tools.”
