For decades, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the practice of allowing colleges and universities to use race as a criterion in considering applicants for admission to create a diverse student body. Now, the court is deciding whether to overturn this precedent. This documentary explores the history of the court's decisions in this area going back to the adoption of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

 

 

Note:                                        On October 31, 2022, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the current cases it is deciding. Decisions are expected something this term between April and June 2023. The current version of this documentary is set so that it is relevant and timely until the court issues its decisions in these two cases. Then, a new slate will be added to end of the film with the courts decision, making the film evergreen moving into the future.
