Despite billions spent each year on breast cancer research, mandatory annual mammograms, and countless pink ribbon campaigns every October promoting a ‘Race for the Cure,’ the conventional standard of care for breast cancer has had virtually no impact on survival rates since 1980. THE CURE puts this standard of care under a microscope. The film documents the journeys of three women with breast cancer diagnoses, who courageously question one size fits all treatment promoted by the medical establishment. With their lives on the line, these women navigate a path through the conventional breast cancer industrial complex to find healing and hope in unique and unexpected ways. As they visit with top breast surgeons, oncologists and alternative practitioners from San Francisco to Bali over a period of four years, and receive state of the art treatments from hyperbaric oxygen to low-dose chemotherapy, they each discover their own version of a cure.
