What if you could reach the parents and caregivers in your audience with child development tips just by texting them? The New Generation Initiative is a partnership among seven public television stations led by Rocky Mountain PBS and a collaborative text message platform developed by Colorado nonprofit Bright By Three.
Bright By Text provides child development information and activity tips for adult - parents and informal caregivers - caring for children 0-5. Significantly, the platform is designed to carry not only the Bright By Three curriculum but also digital material from PBS sources as well as other national high quality resources such as Vroom.org brain-building activities. Because of the engagement of the public television stations, Bright By Text also provides information about local services and resources for households with young children.
Bright By Text provides a connection to critical local services in addition to providing an alternative delivery system for high quality PBS content. Funded in part by CPB, the project has seven pilot stations: Arizona PBS/Phoenix, KLRN/San Antonio, Valley PBS/Fresno, UNCTV/North Carolina, WFYI/Indianapolis, and WNET/New York, led by Rocky Mountain PBS.
Rocky Mountain PBS’ chief engagement officer Laurie Hirschfeld Zeller and Jean McSpadden, president of Bright By Three, will guide us through this very interesting new territory.
