Short Description: WATCHERS OF THE NORTH is an action packed six part documentary adventure series following the training, patrols and search and rescue missions of Canadian Rangers in two Nunavut communities. And who are the Canadian Rangers? The Canadian Rangers are a volunteer reserve branch within the Canadian Forces. Their job? They act as a military presence in the North, and in remote and sparsely populated parts of Canada. Canadian Ranger patrols are made up of Inuit, Metis, First Nations and non-Aboriginal men and women, depending on the region. You’ll find them conducting surveillance and sovereignty patrols in the North and acting as guides, scouts, and experts when Regular Forces need wilderness and Arctic survival skills. They are also trained in basic First Aid and Search and Rescue skills, and often act as a first responders and Search teams before other help arrive!
