Anita Sims, NETA
Anita Sims

(April 2017) The National Educational Telecommunications Association’s executive committee, acting on behalf of the membership, promoted Anita Sims to the position of Executive Vice President and Director of the NETA Business Center at their meeting this month in Dallas. Sims now will be responsible for NETA’s overall operational and tactical direction, as well as the NETA Business Center’s growth, working with the association’s president Skip Hinton to ensure the current and future financial well being of NETA.

“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this promotion than Anita,” said Ronnie Agnew, president of Mississippi Public Broadcasting and chair of NETA’s board of directors. “Her leadership in growing the Business Center and her overall leadership at NETA are commendable and worthy of acknowledgment. She’s a valuable member of our team.”
Anita Sims has worked at NETA for more than 26 years. She created the NETA Business Center in 1999 to provide financial services, payroll and benefits administration, and project management for public broadcasters and related organizations.
In 2007, Sims became the association’s vice president of finance and business development, the first woman (and first Hispanic) ever to hold that office at NETA. The Texas native’s background is in the not-for-profit sector. Sims holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting. She is a member of the national board of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and is chair of the IMA’s Carolina Council. Sims was inducted into the organization’s prestigious Stuart Cameron McLeod Society in recognition of her leadership and service to the industry.
