Outsourcing to Save KEDT/Corpus Christi Time and Money

KEDT/Corpus Christi, Texas and NETA's Business Center established a collaboration that will help the station to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of its business functions.
    
"Until we looked at NETA’s Business Center services, we were convinced that we had implemented every cost-saving measure available to us. Now, NETA will be providing services tailored to our specific needs that will lower our operating costs by thousands of dollars," said KEDT-TV President and General Manager Don Dunlap.
      
The station is outsourcing accounting, payroll, annual audit and reporting activities, and some human resource functions. "This will save us a tremendous amount of staff time, and with the timely financial information and analyses that NETA will be providing, we will be able to make informed decisions about the best use of all of our resources, including staff," said Dunlap.
   

After meetings to discuss KEDT-TV’s needs, an individualized service plan was agreed upon, and the services start-up process is now underway. "We are exporting and importing data for test runs, and we are on schedule to ‘go live’ September 8," said NETA Director of Finance Anita Sims.
  
The NETA Business Center’s service ensemble utilizes the organization’s core competencies as a project manager and financial agent and offers stations industry-wide expertise and customized services at an affordable cost. The services help stations to leverage scarce resources and focus more on the projects and activities that increase their value to the communities that they serve.
    
NETA has extensive experience in the provision of business management services for other public broadcasting organizations, including the Association of Public Television Stations (APTS), the Organization of State Broadcasting Executives (OSBE), the Public Broadcasting Management Association (PBMA), the Satellite Educational Resources Consortium (SERC), and the Small Station Association (SSA).
