    1. “Ice Age” - Part 1 reveals secrets of the Pleistocene Ice Age with visits to the National Museum of Natural History’s dinosaur and fossil exhibit, and some of the Smithsonian Institution’s millions of fossil specimens are examined.  Part 2 goes to the George C. Page Museum of La Brea Discoveries to study the remains of plant and animals trapped in the La Brea tar pits thousands of years ago. (26:30)
     
    2. “Wet and Dry” - Part 1 goes to the Sierra Nevada Foothills where tests reveal the water content of the snow that supplies water for millions of Californians.  Part 2 goes to Saguaro National Park in Arizona’s desert where the site of ancient petroglyphs is being mapped and studied.     3. “Talk to the Animals” Part 1 visits Sea World San Diego to see how a marine mammalogist cares for a whale calf.  Part 2 spends a day with a veterinarian at the Animal Medical Center in New York, one of the top teaching hospitals of veterinary medicine in the nation. (27:21)
     
    4. “Food and Farm” Part 1 goes to a California farm and to the biosystems lab at the University of California Davis to see types of work done by agricultural engineers.  Part 2 visits the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Lab in Massachusetts where a nutritionist is developing meals for soldiers in the field.     5. “Birds of a Feather” - Part 1 shows how veterinarians at the International Bird Rescue Center care for birds harmed by an oil spill.   Part 2 shows how a wildlife biologist finds wood ducks and extracts DNA from blood samples to determine the health of the species. (27:42)
     
    6. “Electronic Ears” - Part 1 tours Lucent Technologies Bell Lab with an acoustical engineer.  Part 2 visits Dolby Labs to see how audio engineers put sound on movie film.  Part 3 shows how a professor of music works with a student in an electronic music lab. (26:48)
     
    7. “Prehistoric Plants” - Part 1 goes to the Bisti Badlands with a paleobotanist to find the fossilized remains of ancient plants.  Part 2 shows how a plant ecologist works to preserve special habitats, including a vernal pool in California. (26:54)
     
    8. “Tech Detectives” - Part 1 goes to Lake Mead with an environmental biologist and shows how sonar devices are implanted to track fish behavior.  Part 2 explains how a forensic chemist examines crime scenes and evidence. (26:43)
     
    9. “Bones” - Part 1 goes to the Museum of Natural History Marine Mammal Lab to show how marine biologists learn from whale and dolphin bones.  Part 2 shows how a forensic anthropologist determines the age and sex of human remains. (26:06)
     
    10. “Marine Adventures” - Part 1 includes a trip to a wildlife refuge with a wildlife biologist to see how birds are banded, study a lion colony, and observe a shark attack.  Part 2 goes to the Mirage Resort in Las Vegas to tour the “Dolphin Habitat” with a marine biologist. (29:23)
     
    11. “Solar Exploration” - Part 1 visits an astrogeologist who is working on the Mars Pathfinder, the Thermal Emission Spectrometer, and a map of Mars’ terrain.  Part 2 tours a full-scale model of the International Space Station with an astronaut.  Part 3 goes to Lockheed Martin to show how system engineers work to develop satellites and spacecraft.     12. “Nature’s Predators” - Part 1 goes to the Santa Catalina Mountains with an entomologist who captures spiders and extracts their venom for research.  Part 2 visits the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center with a wildlife ecologist who studies behaviors of predators and prey.     13. “Flight Deck” - Part 1 includes a tour of a U.S. Navy training facility with an instructor pilot who explains how planes take off and land on aircraft carriers.  Part 2 goes to the Titan rocket facility where an aerospace engineer explains propulsion engines. (26:42)
