| Who is the marketing representative for NETA's Educational Resources
products? Her name is Jady Wade. She hails from Lawton, Oklahoma, and has a long career in classroom video and related products. Please contact her anytime by phone -- her number is 803-799-5517, ext. 110 -- or by email. How does Jady calculate my station (or my school) price? There's a formula laid out in the Pricing and Policies section. It's based on your area's total K-12 student population, plus a base fee, times the number of programs leased. Other fees, such as duplication rights, may be included, and certain discounts may apply. What if the series I want to lease will only be used by Grades 4 and 5, for example? Can I use only that student population to calculate the lease price? NETA Educational Resources' pricing structure is based on a sliding scale that uses the entire K-12 population to provide fair pricing to all customers, from small counties to large states. How long is the lease period? When does it commence? When does it end? Does it include summer school? The standard lease is one year, beginning August 31 and ending August 30, summer school included. Multi-year leases are available in most cases - check with Jady for details. Do the lease terms include rights for overnight block feeds? Yes, they do. Do the lease terms include excerpting clips for promotion and/or teacher training? Yes, Jady encourages clips for uses like this. Please note, though, that program editing is firmly prohibited. What about satellite originations, or streaming these programs online? Distributing the programs you lease from NETA Educational Resources via satellite is usually approved, but prior permission must be obtained from Jady. Our Internet distribution policy is still being formulated. Please inquire directly with Jady. Some programs in the catalog are called "Educational Resources Access Programs." How are they different from the other programs? In addition to the programs that it distributes, NETA Educational Resources occasionally obtains rights for other quality instructional programs that can be offered at a lower price, thanks to underwriting or other arrangements with the producer. We call these "access programs." The use fee for NETA Educational Resources Access Programs is $ 1.00 per minute, and even that fee is capped at a maximum of $ 200 for single stations with student enrollments under 300,000 or $ 500 for state networks or single stations whose K-12 student enrollments exceed 300,000. Can I select only the programs I want from a series? "Cherry-picking" is discouraged except in cases of selecting complete curriculum areas or foreign language. If only one or two programs in a series are of interest, please contact us regarding audio/visual rights which may be available. Can I license rights for duplication only? Yes, but duplication only rights will cost the same as leasing a series for broadcast. Can I purchase a DVD or VHS set of the series from NETA Educational Resources? No, not from us. If a VHS set of the series exists, it is available through the producer listed on the individual series information description page. What tape formats can I obtain from NETA Educational Resources? We can deliver our programs on two formats, DVC-Pro and BetaSP. Please call Jady Wade (803-799-5517, ext 110) if you have questions about tape formats. What is ITFS? The Instructional Television Fixed Service is a licensed service that uses multi-channel microwave transmitters to distribute educational programming from one central point to multiple receiving locations, such as public school systems, businesses, and other institutions. |
