Eddie, a fictional, inquisitive 11-year-old East Harlem student. Viewers meet real people in real jobs in a unique
combination of fiction and real-world math and science.
The series has been recognized with a Peabody Award, among other honors. |

Heaven (Distance, Time, and Speed) takes Eddie through Manhattan traffic to rescue
Hector, Aunt Rosas dog. (25:15)
2. The Lucky Batting Glove (Statistics) goes into the New York Yankees
dugout and behind the scoreboard to show how some people make careers out of statistics.

3. The Vegie Stash-o-matic (Circles) shows practical uses of geometry as Eddie
tries to invent a machine. (25:15)
4. The Fake Money Caper (Decimals) introduces people who create, safeguard,
and trade our money. Counterfeiting and

5. Sleep Like a Dog (Length and Area) shows how Hector helps Aunt Rosa with
her new apartment and how math is used in interior decoration and set designs. (25:15)
6. The Big Concert (Patterns introduces professional musicians and composers
as Eddie struggles to prepare for a holiday concert. (25:15)
7. The Day Manhattan Ran Dry (Volume) introduces Eddie to people who build
water tanks, reservoirs, and underground tunnels to supply water to the city of New York.

8. Eddie in Barbieland (The Counting Principle) shows how he copes with the
problem of buying a gift for his sister with the help of Miss Tolivers lesson on
clothing combinations and the counting principle, Mattel toy designers, and a salesperson.

9. The Lonesome Pine (Ratios) takes Eddie on a search for a place to plant a
Ponderosa Pine. He meets foresters and
engineers and learns the importance of trees in the balance of nature. (25:15)
10. The Green Thumb (Variables) introduces the leader of New Yorks Green
Guerillas rooftop gardeners and the manager of the Lundberg organic rice farm as Eddie
tries to grow sunflowers for a school project. (25:15)
11. The Dessert Derby (Charts and Graphs) shows how Aunt Ida follows food
professionals and uses charts and graphs to prepare her recipe. (25:15)
12. Take a Bite (Percents) takes Eddie to the world of graphic design as he
works with his photo that has been chosen for a campaign to bring tourists to New York.
