February 2003 - Professional Development Call

   The Cause and Effect
   of Educational Datacasting

Thursday, February 27 at 3:30 pm ET

Wisconsin ECB’s Lin Hanson and Mike Kern will focus on a partnership they forged to datacast two new interactive programs:  “Investigating Wisconsin History-Enhanced” and “Hand in Hand-Enhanced”. What's interesting was that both programs were datacast by a commercial television station. It just shows that you don’t have to wait until you have equipment to begin experimenting with datacasting.

Additionally Karen Mell, Martin Hernandez and Amy Long of KCPT/Kansas City will discuss their ongoing pilot project featuring locally-produced content that is datacast to schools and colleges. Martin will review the steps to prepare the video and interactive website content for datacasting. Amy will talk about the technical aspects involved with working with a new site on datacasting and Karen will share with us initial reactions from teachers.

We will also hear from both stations about their participation in the PBS “Digital Classroom.”

Sign up now to reserve your place in the discussion.
