Panelist Bios

Dave Cassiday,
Director of Higher Education Programs, KCPT

Dave's primary responsibility is to provide leadership for KC REACHE, an alliance of nine area colleges and universities in the greater Kansas City region that pool resources and expertise to provide distance learning options for area students.
  
Prior to coming to KCPT, Dave was a Student Services Coordinator at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where
he earned his M.A. in Higher Education Administration.

   
Kevin Dando,
Director,
PBS Education Online & Communication

Since 1995, Kevin Dando has overseen marketing, media relations and promotion for PBS's formal education services and Web sites (including PBS TeacherSource, PBS Kids online, PBS Parents online and PBS Campus). During Kevin's tenure, PBS.org has become the most trafficked dot-org site in the world.
          
Prior to his PBS experience, Kevin was director of communications for a Washington-area professional association, focusing on domestic child hunger.

        
Mary Halnon,
Director, PBS TeacherSource

Mary Halnon has served for six years in PBS's Interactive Learning division, where she manages the TeacherSource K-12 site for educators. Mary also works to support overall systemwide education initiatives and next-generation services like PBS's proposed digital classroom service.
        
Prior to her time at PBS, Mary worked as a high school English and biology teacher in Virginia public schools.

      
Tim Olsen,
Director, Interactive: KQED

Tim oversees all Web and new media for KQED including californiaconnected.org, pbs.org/frontlineworld and kqed.org, one
of the nation's most trafficked public broadcasting station sites. Tim is active on industry groups including iMA, PBS Station Working Group and the NPR pilots group.
            
Before joining KQED, Tim has served as Interactive Director at KCTS/Seattle and WTTW/Chicago.
