(January 24, 2005 - Charleston, SC) The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) honored eighteen public television licensees –some more than once – with awards Monday night on stage at the historic Riviera Theatre. NETA Board Chair Ted A. Garcia (KNME/Albuquerque) presented trophies to more than thirty projects in the areas of program production, promotion, outreach, and instructional media. The celebratory presentation and reception are part of NETA’s annual conference, held this year in Charleston, South Carolina.

A tradition established nearly forty years ago by the pioneering Southern Educational Communications Association, the NETA Awards are annual recognition of excellence in public broadcasting. NETA is a professional association founded in 1997 to serve public television licensees and affiliated educational organizations. The organization is headquartered in Columbia, SC.
